School GroundsWe are currently engaged in revegetating our school grounds with indigenous species and removing all non indigenous plants that are seen to be weeds. Watch for lots of progress this year!
Our Animals
The school has a sheep and a goat on the premises and the students are encouraged to assist in their care and wellbeing. We also have a chook shed and a small flock of chickens who regularly produce eggs for our hospitality program and canteen. Our Kitchen Garden
This year we are looking to expand our growing space and get a food forest going. Kids from the GEMS Club work in the gardens every Wednesday. Produce from our gardens goes into our canteen to make healthy lunches for our students. Check out the "Sherbie Salad" - it's grown by us! Sherbrooke Grounds
We are lucky to have a leafy, large and picturesque setting for our school. |
Grounds Committee
Grounds Committee members meet monthly and organise regular working bees at the school. They manage outdoors maintenance such as paths, gardens, weeding, plantings, etc. They work very closely with our sustainability committee. Sustainability Committee
Our Sustainability Committee keeps our school on track in terms of saving energy, conserving water, native species revegetation, creating wildlife corridors, caring for our farm animals and real food production in our orchard and kitchen gardens. Please see the Sustainability page for more information. Facilities Committee
Facilities Committee members care for buildings and structures at the school. They paint, repair and improve wherever needed. Snow as Sherbrooke Community School
It doesn't happen every year but the kids LOVE it when it does! Everyone loves a good snowball fight and building snow people. Rest assured the staff enjoy snowy fun as much as the kids! |
