Resource Smart Energy Award finalist

The school is a state finalist in the Resource Smart Energy Awards run by Sustainability Victoria. It comes from all the hard work people have put into making our school more energy efficient. The VCE Environmental Science classes have led the way and helped to write the submission. The winner is announced on Wednesday November 18 at BMW Edge in the City. Fingers crossed!

Winners of the HabitAT Plan Award

We have won the inaugural award from the Shire of Yarra Ranges. We received $400, a wonderful perpetual trophy, $700 worth of materials from Ribbons of Green and a class with the Natural Resource Conservation League or an excursion to Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve.

The Plan is for a conservation area at the back of the school. The VCE Environmental Science students have been weeding, planting, fencing the area for over 12 months and have worked with the rest of the school on days such as National Tree Planting Day.

The area is to act as a corridor for native animals between the Dandenong National Park to the North West of the school with the Sassafras Creek Reserve to the South East. Nesting boxes will be made by students for various animals and placed in appropriate places in the Conservation Area.
